Happy first Friday of 2013! Here are five fun things to do in Memphis this weekend.

Live at the Garden: Chicago, Memphis Botanic Garden, June 16, 6:30, $40, all ages
Come on – you know you’ve always wanted to hear “25 or 6 to 4” played live. Or maybe not. Either way, the Botanic Garden’s Live at the Garden series is only partially about the music. It’s also about hanging out on blankets with elaborate picnics and seeing and being seen. Gates open at 6:30, the music starts at 8:30.

Memphis Symphony Orchestra Presents: Carmina Burana, Cannon Center, Saturday and Sunday, 8 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., $15 and up
O Fortuna! The Memphis Symphony Orchestra is performing Carl Orff’s cantata “Carmina Burana” at the Cannon Center this weekend. Mei Ann Chen will conduct the symphony as they perform with a soprano, tenor and baritone. There are two performances, one Saturday night and one Sunday afternoon.

On Saturday night, you can sample food from this year’s honored country, the Philippines, at Chez Philippe at the Peabody Hotel. The five course meal will be prepared by Filipino Chef Claude Tayag. The New Ballet Ensemble is performing “Rhapsody in Blue” as part of their Spring Loaded weekend at Playhouse on the Square. The ensemble, which blends traditional ballet with more modern, popular forms of dance, will perform with the River City Concert Band.
